Description
Overview
The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is the weapons-grade variant of the brand's deliciously designed F-Pace SUV. This crossover's most obvious attribute is its stylish exterior; it's easily one of the most stunning choices in a segment that isn't short on visual appeal. The F-Pace SVR pairs this with the kind of handling and acceleration that's worthy of a high-performance sports sedan.
Its athleticism doesn't come at the cost of ride comfort, however; the F-Pace SVR boasts a suspension that graciously shields passengers from rough road surfaces. This Jaguar also provides superb utility, offering more cargo space than many rivals. It deserves consideration if you're on the lookout for a luxury SUV with enthusiast-friendly handling and stunning design.
What's New for 2020?
For the 2020 model year, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration as standard equipment on all models.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR starts at $81,750.
Jaguar offers the F-Pace SVR in a single, lavishly equipped model, and we think this base version is an appealing choice. It rides on 21-inch split-spoke wheels with a diamond-turned finish. A sunroof extends over the first and second rows of seating. The list of standard exterior features also includes rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power liftgate, LED
headlights that are both automatic and adaptive, rear fog lights, and heated power-folding sideview mirrors with auto-dimming capability. Within the cabin, the F-Pace SVR comes standard with heated and cooled front seats, a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and push-button ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
On the tech front, this SUV is equipped with amenities such as SiriusXM satellite radio and a 10.0-inch touchscreen. Driver-assistance features such as automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance are standard. We'd recommend adding the Drive Pack package ($1700),
which features amenities such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring. With this bundle included, the 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR has a total price of $83,325.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All Jaguar F-Pace SVR SUVs come with a muscular, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood. This engine generates an impressive 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. It's matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. In our track tests, the F-Pace SVR went from zero to 60 mph in a scant 4.1 seconds.
That's an impressive performance, but it trails the time logged by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. That SUV made the dash in a crisp 3.4 seconds. It also lags the time logged by a Porsche Macan Turbo with Performance package (3.7 seconds). The F-Pace SVR offers keen handling, with precise steering and responsive driving dynamics.
At the same time, it's tuned to deliver ride comfort on harsh roads, making it a pleasant choice for daily commutes.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
According to EPA estimates, the 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR achieves fuel economy of 16/21 mpg city/highway. This mileage is eclipsed by that of rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (17/23 mpg) and Mercedes-AMG GLC63 (16/22 mpg).
In our time with the Jaguar, we observed mileage of 24 mpg on our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR boasts a cabin that has a design that is both elegant and sporty. The aggressively bolstered front seats are attractive to the eyes and comfortable to the backsides. We're fans of the quilted upholstery, which boosts the luxury quotient within the cabin.
Still, some of the cabin's components—such as the climate-control buttons and the backlighting that illuminates the switchgear—have a somewhat antiquated look. Both rows of seats provide reasonably roomy accommodations for adults.
The F-Pace SVR offers 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats. That's considerably more cargo capacity than you'll find in rival models such as the Porsche Macan (17.6 cubic feet) and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (18.5 cubic feet).
The F-Pace SVR's rear seat has a 40/20/40 split that allows you to accommodate outsize items in the cargo area.

That long love affair cooled with the arrival of the sixth-gen (F30 chassis) 3-series in 2012. We felt betrayed as the magic from prior generations slipped away with the adoption of unfeeling electric power steering, a turbo four-cylinder base engine, and a general tuning philosophy at odds with the model's sporting roots. 2022 Toyota 4Runner Limited
After a 23-year run, the unthinkable happened: The 3-series failed to make the 10Best cut.
